Negotiated Skills Development (NSD) is one of the modules in MSc. Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics that help students to acquire new skills, enhance already acquired skills, develop themselves personally and professionally towards their area of specialisation/job role after school.

Most times students get confused on which area to specialise in after school and how to find job roles. This module gives students a guide on how to identify their strengths and weaknesses and work towards improving in their area of weakness. It also helps show students how to surf the net for job roles tailored for their skills.

With the competition in the job market today, this module is a necessity to help students attain that professional level, boost their knowledge, confidence, time management and efficiency.

Rationale:

During the course of this module, I want to develop enough skills needed to get the Network Operation Centre Manager or 3rd Line Support Network Engineer job role.
Having worked as a network engineer in Huawei Technologies for some years before my MSc.

I want to enhance my network engineering skills like routing and switching, I want to get more in-depth analysis and fundamentals, take up online courses on routing protocols and also configure network equipments with them.

Also, I want to develop my skills on cybersecurity with more focus on software exploitation.

Furthermore, handling I.T projects is one of the key roles of a networking operation centre manager so I will also take a project management course and develop my skills in it.
